When LED outdoor lighting products place excessive emphasis on low prices, they compromise product quality and performance, leading people to mistakenly believe that they can spend a small amount of money to experience the same effect as LED lighting. In reality, the quality compromised by low prices can be extremely dangerous. LED strip light manufacturers will share some tips with you to quickly determine the quality of LED outdoor lights:
1. Choose products from reputable brands. You should select products from companies with registered trademarks or trademarks bearing the “R” symbol. LED lights should have a refined and glossy appearance, with the product trademark, model, and specifications printed clearly and attractively. There should be no deformation, paint defects, or uneven coloring.
2. LED outdoor lights or landscape lights generally use aluminum heat sinks. The larger the contact area between the heat sink and the air, the better, as this helps dissipate heat, ensures stable operation of the complete lamp, reduces lumen depreciation, and extends service life. Bulbs and ceiling spotlights should not have excessively large ventilation openings, as this may allow insects to enter during use, affecting the lighting effect or causing unnecessary damage.
3. For LED street lights, LED wall washers, underwater lights, in-ground lights, tile lights, point light sources, fountain lights, strip lights, floodlights, and other products, there should be no obvious color spots, color rings, or other noticeable color-temperature deviations when they illuminate a white wall. If such problems occur, the LED chips or light sources are of poor quality.
4. When an LED light is switched on, a time difference of a fraction of a second to two seconds between power-on and illumination is normal. Usually, this indicates that the lamp uses a constant-current driver with an IC integrated circuit, which provides better current and voltage regulation and ensures stable operation.
5. Pay attention to the LED light color. High-quality LED lighting fixtures should have consistent light colors and should not show yellow light or other inconsistent colors. If you do not know how to distinguish them, here is a simple method: simply turn on these lights and observe changes in their light colors to obtain the desired answer. Because LED lights are highly bright, it is difficult to judge brightness by directly observing two brands of the same type of lamp with the naked eye under identical conditions, and this may also damage your eyesight. We generally recommend covering the light source with a sheet of white paper and comparing the light after it has been attenuated through the paper. This makes it easier to see differences in brightness; the higher the brightness, the better.
6. There is a method of judging LED light quality by observing the LED light through a camera on a mobile phone screen, but this method does not provide an accurate assessment of light quality. Scrolling stripes and flickering are definitely undesirable, while the absence of scrolling stripes and flickering does not necessarily indicate good quality. Since mobile phone screens and cameras differ, their scanning refresh rates and sensitivities also vary for products using low-end RC buck drivers.
