Changes in light sources are not limited to changes in color; they can also affect people's moods. Red light creates a sense of passion, warm yellow light creates a cozy atmosphere, and ordinary white light gives people the feeling of being at home. Incandescent lamps have a simple structure, are inexpensive, and are easy to install, but they generate a great deal of heat and have a relatively short service life. Their luminous efficiency is low; compared with fluorescent lamps of the same brightness, they consume three times as much electricity. Simple dimmers can be used to achieve dimming. Their color temperature is relatively low, making them a warm-colored light source, and they may feel stuffy when used in summer. They offer high color rendering, good three-dimensionality, and excellent color performance, although their stroboscopic effect is somewhat inferior to that of ordinary fluorescent lamps. Suitable applications: Because they consume a relatively large amount of electricity, they are more suitable for areas where lights are switched on and off frequently or used for short periods, such as bathrooms, entryways, and balconies, or as sources of local lighting.

Fluorescent lamps have high luminous efficiency and save two-thirds of the electricity consumed by ordinary incandescent bulbs. Their service life is approximately five times that of incandescent bulbs. Tubes are available in white, daylight, three-band sunlight, and other special colors. White fluorescent lamps provide a soft visual effect, daylight lamps have a high color temperature and create a cool feeling, while three-band sunlight tubes offer high color rendering, making objects appear clear and natural and skin tones look natural. Their efficiency is 5–10% higher than that of the two types of tubes mentioned above. Their structure is relatively complex and their price is higher. However, they generate little heat and have a relatively long service life.

Common bulb-type fluorescent lamps are available in 13W and 17W versions, with brightness comparable to that of 40W and 60W incandescent lamps. Their service life is approximately five times that of incandescent lamps. They generate little heat, are simple and convenient to install, and have an attractive appearance. They can use existing incandescent bulb sockets, so there is no need to replace the lighting fixtures. Their disadvantage is their relatively high price. Suitable applications: They are easy to install and can replace incandescent lamps in locations where they were originally installed, but they must not be installed in damp areas or inside enclosed lighting fixtures. They have a wide color temperature range and can be used for full or local lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and other areas.

The above are several common types of household lighting fixtures. In the editor's opinion, fluorescent lighting fixtures are the better choice among these types because they are both attractive and energy-efficient.
